FCCLA - Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America

FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Organization that provides personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation opportunities for students in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Chapter projects focus on a variety of youth concerns, including teen pregnancy, parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career exploration. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life necessary in the home and workplace.
Members have the opportunity to attend the State Leadership Conference to compete in Star Events. Star Events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. Saraland High for several years has received the top two spots in the state which then has led us to attend the FCCLA National Leadership Conference. Past members have gotten the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C., San Diego, Nashville, and Atlanta. Being involved in competing gives members confidence, broadens leadership skills, and gives members many opportunities.
Saraland High’s Chapter gives back by partnering with HOSA to give to those in need at a homeless shelter and has also
taught the next generation at Saraland Early Education Center and Saraland Elementary School the importance of nutrition and health.
